On the cover of a magazine
If you were featured on the front cover of a magazine, which one would it be?
Fun fact: The very first issue of Vogue magazine released in December 1892. The cost: 10 cents! It featured A.B. Wenzel drawing of a debutante to appeal to Manhattan (NY) socialites. Later purchased in 1905 by Conde Naste, it began publishing for international audiences and shifting towards a focus on women’s fashion. Fast forward to September 2018 Vogue sheds light on the under-representation of people with disabilities by creating cover stories with 3 prominent, disabled fashion influencers: Jillian Mercado, Mama Cax + Chelsea Werner.
One year later, British Vogue, creates its first cover of a model with a disability - Sinéad Burke.
Let’s hope this is a trend that’s here to stay.
